Mindarma has launched a collaboration with The Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi), the leading not-for-profit peak body representing all psychologists Australia-wide. AAPi members can now enjoy a free preview of Mindarma, as well as discounted ongoing access for themselves and their clients.
AAPi psychologists have played a key role in the ongoing growth of Mindarma. Many have implemented the program within workplaces, while others use Mindarma as an accompaniment to individual therapy.
Mindarma teaches a range of skills and strategies drawn from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy. Because it is drawn from therapy, Mindarma helps reinforce what is learnt in therapy. By setting some simple homework tasks, psychologists can support their clients to develop and practise skills between therapy sessions. helping reinforce concepts and develop foundational skills.
The program includes ten short interactive sessions, each around 15-20 minutes long. Content is presented in a very relatable way, using animation and humour to help convey some of the important concepts and scientific facts. Learners gain an introduction to mindfulness and develop strategies to help deal with challenging thoughts and uncomfortable emotions.
They also learn about values, self-compassion and the important role of factors including sleep, nutrition and exercise in maintaining good mental health. In the final session, learners are asked to create a personal self-care action plan, incorporating the practises, skills and strategies that most resonate with them.
Mindarma’s Brain Food continuous learning platform enables psychologists to point their clients towards an expert-curated collection of additional resources. Learners are able to take a deep dive on important topics, with hundreds of helpful resources including videos, articles, guided, audio exercises, podcasts, book recommendations, research and more.
Mindarma’s webinar events are popular amongst psychologists and their clients alike. The events include psychologist-led skills sessions, plus specialist events featuring leading experts on important mental health related topics such as sleep, financial wellbeing and social connection.
