About Us

Poor mental health causes far too much suffering. We asked, “how can we prevent it?”

Mindarma is our fully researched, tried and tested answer.

Mindarma originated as a collaboration between psychologist and researcher, Dr Sadhbh Joyce and her husband Jamie Watson, an e-learning and communications specialist.

When teaching simple psychological skills in group therapy and her private practise, Sadhbh discovered that the impacts could be profound. After experiencing positive change, many of her clients were moved to comment “I wish I had learnt this earlier.”

This phrase prompted an inescapable idea, “what if we could teach these skills earlier, to many?”

Sadhbh joined the Workplace Mental Health Research Team at UNSW/The Black Dog Institute to examine practical, preventative approaches that could be applied at scale. There, she conducted research into psychological resilience and discovered the skills that were so useful in therapy could also be extremely beneficial in protecting workers.

Mindarma is the product of this research. Founded in 2016, Mindarma has now helped to support the mental health of over 50,000 workers.

Maximising good

Mindarma is a purpose-driven organisation. We share life-changing skills and help workplaces to become safe, caring and supportive. We believe creating change takes courage, integrity and whole-heartedness. We have taken on this gigantic challenge because we know we can prevent suffering and create mentally healthier individuals, organisations and communities.

When you work with us your money won’t go towards a superyacht, a private island or a space program. Instead, it will help us to further expand our impact and provide low-cost services to groups most in need.

We work in close collaboration with many of Australia’s emergency service agencies and a wide variety of organisations whose workers face unique challenges and risks. We teach skills that make a real difference. They empower people, making them more resilient, more mindful and more compassionate. They also change workplaces, making them more understanding, caring and safe.

Partner with us

We are working to create change on a very large scale. We don’t intend to do it alone.

If you’re determined to make a difference, let’s discuss how we can work together. We hope to bring our expertise and evidence-base to collaborations that can have a huge impact.

Clients & Supporters

We are grateful to have collaborated with many of Australia’s most trusted organisations and supported many thousands of people who serve the community. If you are part of a charitable organisation contact us to learn about receiving support through our ‘Do Good, Be Kind’ program.
